Chuck will forever be missed by his son, Bert Johnston (Debbie); daughters, Wendy Caine, and Jennie Michalenko (Rick); grandchildren, Deanna Harding (Jeff), Kristy Munroe (Darren), Art Nesbitt (Lori), Chad Nesbitt (Christine), Richard Michalenko, Kim Austin (Shawn) and Joe Michalenko; as well as his great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Tory; son in law, John Caine; and grandson, Victor Nesbitt; as well as all his siblings.
Chuck grew up in Manitoba as the youngest child of 10. He left home as a young lad and made his way to Vancouver where he signed up for the army. From there he made his way to the west coast and ended up in Ucluelet. He met Tory and they settled in Port Albion and started their family.
A proud Metis, Chuck was honored in April for his service as a Metis veteran. This man loved life and all his people in it.
Thank you to his home support and Celeste who completely “got him”. Thank you to all the nurses in hospital who really enjoyed his personality, were so caring to him, and understood his unique humor and his charming ways. Kevin who was there at the end could not have been more compassionate or caring to him and to us.
Special thanks to Jen, for all you have done and the Austins for the loving laughter you gave to him.
We were blessed to have him, and he will be dearly missed.
