Marjorie Shirley Marie Watson (nee Hodgson)
September 20 1944 - February 9 2024
Born in Edmonton and raised in Victoria, BC, Marjorie cherished her upbringing with her parents Mary and Jack Hodgson, alongside her siblings. She met her beloved Richard Watson, married June 21 1969, in Victoria, where they raised their family, eventually settling in Qualicum Beach in 1976.
Marj will be sorely missed by her husband Rick, children Debbie, Darlene (John), Rob (Angie), grandchildren Kyle, Kevin, Jackie, Mackenzie, and Alex, as well as her siblings Joan (Brian), Leslie (Debra), and Dennis (Bev), along with numerous extended family and friends.
During her long career as a cashier at Overwaitea Foods (now Save on Foods) in Parksville, she was a hard worker and a staple of the store. Even in retirement, Marj's presence lingered in the hearts of all who knew her.
Rick and Marj shared a great love for each other and had many adventures, completing their entire bucket list together. They loved traveling, spending winters in Yuma, golfing, and seeing their grandchildren grow up. She was most proud of her children, and her grandchildren. Even the grandchildren who have tattoos.
Marj will always be remembered for her love of family, and gathering the family at every opportunity, including friends who turned into family. She was the first to make sure everyone was fed and full, always making an array of baked goods so that there was something for everyone, and then some.
Marj Watson was many things beyond the matriarch of the family. She was the historian, baker, stand up comedian, judge of cleanliness, light of every room she was in, and our rock. She will be missed dearly by not only her entire family, but everyone who knew her.
In lieu of flowers. Marj would rather a donation be made to a charity in her honor, like the Parksville Beach Festival Society as the summer concert series was her favorite activity, mostly for the people watching.
