He leaves behind to forever miss him, his partner of 20+ years, Holly Cameron; son, Doug Becker of Lloydminster, Alberta; daughter, Justene and her husband, Lyle Richardson of Cowichan Bay, BC; step children, Amber Cameron ( Ben Smith), Devon Cameron of Victoria, BC, “and his adopted son, Ryan McKamey”; grandchildren, Kyra Richardson and Kayden Richardson; niece, Lisa Debolt and her mother, Phyllis Kenney; Justene’s mom and friend for over 40 years, Ilona Becker; Barbara and Ed Westra, Rena McKamey, Donna Sharpe and Howie Moore, Dave Richmond, Scott Brook, Jamie and Myrna Clark; and too many more to mention. Grant was predeceased by his mom and dad, Phyllis and Dick Becker; sister, Beverly; brother, Barry; his first wife and Doug's mother, Margaret Becker, and his Aunty Dot.
His first career was as a Sous Chef. He later became a faller followed by a ticketed Driller Blaster. When the logging industry declined, he went back to school again and became a ticketed Residential/Industrial Painter and in between jobs he worked at Hertel’s Meats, drove cab, and retired as a carpenters helper for Dave Richmond.
He was an avid hunter in his younger years and switched over to golf in the last 20 years of his life. He played football in school and through all the years never missed watching the NFL games.
Grant will be remembered for his great hospitality and how he opened his home to all!
A Celebration of Life will be held to honour Grant at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in his memory to the Alberni Valley Hospice Society.
