Bill was born November 19, 1927 in Youngstown, OH to Camden O. and Marie {Funk} Butcher.
Bill served in the United States Marines Corp during WWII in China, Japan, Philippines, Korea and also directed the United States Marine Corp band. He worked for the City of Parkersburg as head of the Sanitation Board and Safety Director for the State Highway. Bill was active in the Parkersburg Choral Society for 40 years and a part of the First Lutheran Church for many years. He had said his best years were between the ages of 60 to 80 during which he loved to play golf , make music and taking care of his wife.
Bill will be deeply missed by his sons, Dennis (Lynn) Butcher, Slate Creek, WV, Don (Anne) Butcher, Hampton, VA, grandchildren, Rachael Butcher-Lashchanou, Columbus, OH, Allison Butcher, Los Angeles, CA, and brother, Robert G. (Sara) Butcher, Parkersburg, WV.
William was preceded in death by his wife of 27 years, Marvel and older brother, John C. Butcher.
Visitation will be Tuesday, February 6, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at First Lutheran Church, Parkersburg. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 p.m. with Reverend Ian Reid officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Memory Gardens with Military Rites provided by the Marine Corp League and the American Legion Post 15. Online tributes may be made at www.sunsetparkersburg.com.
