William "Bill" E. Charlton

Bill was born March 22, 1928 in Parkersburg, WV to Earl O. Charlton and Zelma {Pickens} Charlton.

He served in US Army at Fort Mead, MD, Fort Eustis, VA and Nancy, France for 2 years and in the National Guard for one year.

Bill married Dorothy A. Tuell on January 16, 1959. She passed away on January 28, 2008.

He worked for Parkersburg Distributing Company for 4 years and retired from Midland Grocery after 25 years. Bill attended Grace Gospel Church. He enjoyed country and blue grass music. Bill liked old westerns. He loved his family.

Bill will be deeply missed by his; children William "Bill" L. (Sara) Charlton of Parkersburg, Robert "Bob" P. (Tammy) Charlton of Washington, John E. Charlton of Parkersburg, Jean E. Charlton of Parkersburg, Linda D. (Terry) Devore of Parkersburg and Donna L. Charlton of Parkersburg; 15 grandchildren; 21great-grandchildren;

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, wife Dorothy of 49 years, daughter Deb Pursley, grandson Jason Burchard, brother Paul T. Charlton; sister Patricia D. Charlton and nephew Pete Charlton.

Visitation will be Tuesday, May 30, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Parkersburg. Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Troy Derenberger officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Memory Gardens.
