Paul was born Aug. 10, 1964 a son to Lona Paulette and Charles Catchings Carr.
Paul had great artistic talent. He could construct small and especially miniature items with great tdetail and vibrant colors, his trademark. In 1981, Paul became the first Black athlete to be named Co-Captain of the Parkersburg High School rowing team winning the State Championship that year. Paul was living in El Paso to provide care and support to his Aunt Lillian following the passing of her husband. Many family and friends now will treasure the items that he created.
Paul was preceded in death by his mother, Lona. Left here to cherish his essence and memory are his sons; Paul Lavin Jr., David Michael, Derrick Adam, and Anthony Jordan Carr; grandchildren, Casstiel Lavin, Anna Laya, and Derrick Adam Carr Jr., all of Parkersburg, his father, Charles Catchings Carr of Parkersburg, aunt, Eva Lillian of El Paso, TX, sister, Eva Linda of Fort Worth, TX, brothers, Jon and Cary Carr of Fort Worth, TX, Dr. David Carr of Gary, Charles Michael Carr of South Charleston, Harold Lee Carr and Lloyd Burt Carr of Parkersburg, cousins, Erik and Karin of the Huntington area.
There will be a memorial gathering with family and friends Aug. 6, 2016, 1:30 pm at Sunset Memory Gardens in Parkersburg, WV.
Paul would always say “I Love You”, we’d say, “Love you too, Paul”.
Always Paul…….Always.
