Lowell Dayton Somerville went to meet his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and be reunited with his loving wife Marian on October 7th, 2023. He was 87 years old. He was born in 1936 in Wood County, WV. He was the youngest son of Hubert R. and Violet A. (Mahaney) Somerville. Hop enlisted in the United States Army in 1954 and was a soldier in the 82nd Airborne Division. He married the love of his life, Marian Marlene Smith, in 1957. Together they raised four children, Sherri, Jeff, Missy, and Eric. He was a member and Deacon of Sam's Creek Baptist Church. He loved serving the Lord with his family in a gospel music ministry that spanned several decades. Riding motorcycles was one of his favorite pastimes. He had many fond memories of road trips with one special friend, Brian Shockey. Hop was also an avid hunter and loved spending time in the outdoors with family and friends. One of his greatest hunting memories was getting to go out west and hunt mule deer and antelope. He retired from Wood County B.O.E as a school bus operator. He was preceded in death by his wife Marian and his brother Ralph Wayne Somerville. He is survived by his sister, Ruby Tennant and his four children and their spouses. Sherri (Jim) Rinehart, Jeff (Marsha), Missy (Tim) Ross, and Eric (Anita), eleven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. The funeral service will be at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Monday, October 16th from 3-5 pm and 6-8 pm. The funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday, October 17th with viewing one hour prior.
