He was born February 10, 1939 in St. Mary’s, WV, a son of the late Bernard Lamp and Olive (Dalrymple) Lamp.
John retired from AB Chance after 35 years of service. He had a strong passion for fitness, health, and walking and could be found many mornings at the Fitness Center, where he was a member for over 30 years. John truly enjoyed spending his time with friends and family; they meant the world to him. Time together typically involved stories, laughter and good times. He will be deeply missed.
Those left behind to cherish his memory include his daughters, Chickeeta (Stan Davis) Lamp of Belpre, Deadra (Jeff) Williams of Parkersburg; sister, Inez Davis of St. Mary’s, WV; grandchildren, Joshua Parsons; great grandchildren, Griffen Parsons, Austin Izzo, Kimora Newbanks and many other family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Carolyn S. Lamp of 64 years, six brothers and four sisters and his beloved dog Rocky.
The family would like to thank Amedisys Hospice for their love and kindness during John’s final days.
A private family service will be held on Friday.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Parkersburg Humane Society.
