Herbert Lyle Sheppard

Herb was born October 29, 1934 in Wirt Co., WV the son of the late Gettis G. and Hazel (Bailey) Sheppard.

Herb liked to hunt and fish but his main love was working his farm, gardening and helping his good friend Hugh Arnold with his hay business. Herb retired from Dupont in 1993.

Herb will be deeply missed by his wife of 63 years, Mary, two sons, Dan (Mindy) Sheppard, Greg (Carla) Sheppard, five grandchildren, Noah, Luke, Jordan and Zac Sheppard all of Parkersburg and Braden Sheppard of Middlebourne, three great grandchildren, Zackary, Keegan and Lily, sister, Ellen (Herb) Tanner of Parkersburg and brother, Okey (Jackie) Sheppard of Layman, OH, many nieces and nephews, and his faithful dog, Sammie.

Herb was preceded in death by his parents, sons, Michael and Eric, as well as brothers, Delbert “Jack”, Franklin “Bill”, William “Wib”, Samual “Sam” and sisters, Evelyn Beckett and Dorothy Connolly.

The family would like to thank Dr. Armstrong, Dr. Shah and Camden Clark along with all of the other doctors and nurses for the excellent care Herb received from all of them.

The family will have a service on Sunday, October 16, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home with Pastor Bob Riffle officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Memory Gardens.
