He was born September 22, 1933, in Parkersburg, a son of the late Bradley Currey and Elsie (Keebaugh) Currey.
After serving in the U.S. Navy, Wayne worked at Dils Brothers and then for DuPont until his retirement and was a lifelong, faithful member of Trinity Christian Church. He enjoyed Parkersburg South and WVU sports, sharing stories about his years in the Navy, keeping up with the news, and spending time with family and friends.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jo Ann (Wooddell) Currey; sons, Greg (Robin) Currey of Fairfax, Virginia, and Doug (Beth) Currey of Parkersburg; sisters Phyllis Flinn and Barbara Carr; and brother Paul Currey. He was predeceased by brothers Robert Currey and Ed Currey. He also leaves behind three grandsons (Isaac Currey, Samuel Currey, and Nathan Currey), four granddaughters (Joanna Currey, Grace Currey, Allison Currey, and Abigail Adams), and a great-grandson expected in April.
