He was born March 21, 1946, in Parkersburg, a son to the late Foster and Dorothy Dunbar. He was a graduate of Parkersburg High School Class of 1964 and went on to Mountain State College. Following school, he worked as a lab technician at DuPont retiring in 2001 after 33 ½ years of service. He was a member and deacon of the Lubeck Church of Christ. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, he was a lifetime member of the NRA, a member of the North American Hunting Club, and the Muskie Club. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, working in and around the church, and over the years keeping up with friends and relatives on Facebook.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Shirley Hall Dunbar; sons, Michael David Dunbar (Erin) of Fairfax, VA, and Richard D. Dunbar of Washington; sister, Susan Carol Kaufman of Crestview, FL; grandchildren, Natasha Dunbar of Brooklyn, NY, Cody, Madison, Hailey, and Zachary Dunbar of Fairfax, VA, Tori Dunbar of Warner Robins, GA, and Drew, Chase and Riley Dunbar of Washington; along with several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 25, 2013, 11 am, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Parkersburg with Steve Fuchs officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be Monday, June 24, 2013, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
