Erin R. Rice Wile

She was born August 4, 1928 in Stumptown, WV to Hollie and Goldie (Stump) Atwell. Erin married West Virginia State Police Lt. Edgell E. Rice on August 30, 1946; he passed away June 19, 1970. Erin was devoted to her family with whom she shared her love abundantly. Through her loving and generous spirit Erin enriched the lives of those she touched. She was a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Erin was also a member of the New Hope Baptist Church. She enjoyed church, grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. Erin retired from Hope Gas Company. She graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1945. Erin will be deeply missed by her children; Sharon (Robert) Jones of Morgantown, David E. (Linda) Rice of Wilmington, NC and Michael J. (Jane) Rice of Parkersburg, grandchildren; Amy (Robert) Jones Overfield of Morgantown, Christopher T. (Tara) Jones of Wexford, PA, Kristen K. (Joey) Anthony of Raleigh, NC, and Jonathon E. Rice of Parkersburg, great-grandchildren; Collin S., Lilly E. and Jack L. Overfield, Eliana I., Nathaniel C. and Joshua J. Jones.

She married James R. Wile on March 11, 1989. He resides with his daughter Judy in Webster Springs, WV. She was preceded in death by her first husband Edgell of 23 years and brother Earl. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, in Parkersburg. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 am at the funeral home with Rev. David Easter officiating. Interment will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flower the family request donations in her name to New Hope Baptist Church or the Humane Society of Parkersburg.
