Elwyn E. Ashby Cordray Stephens, 93, of Parkersburg, was welcomed into Heaven Nov. 21, 2010 at her Parkersburg home.
She was born Oct. 10, 1917 in Parkersburg, a daughter of the late Albert Thomas and Carrie Lorraine Clark Ashby. She was a member of the South Parkersburg United Methodist Church where she had served as Sunday school teacher and V.P. of the UMC Women.
She is survived by four sons, Michael Cordray (Diane) of Black Hawke, SD, Roger Cordray (Eileen) of Baudette, MN, Carl Stephens (Tanya) of Clarksburg, WV, and Robert Stephens (Kaye) of Texas; six daughters, Martha Buffington of Parkersburg, Geneva Murphy (Ralph) of Gettysburg, PA, Edith Cordell of Parkersburg, Shirley Trippett of Reno,OH, Janet Kautz (Bob) of Belpre, and Cheryl Simons (Randy) of St. Marys, WV; 21 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Paul Cordray and Denzil Stephens; two sons, Paul Cordray, Jr., and George Stephens; one brother, Edwin Ashby; two sisters, Mona Bradford and Justine Ashby; and sister-in-law, Glada Pugh.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at South Parkersburg United Methodist Church with Pastor Rick Brown officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be Sunday from 5-8 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Parkersburg.
