Edra Smith

She was born September 2, 1931 on a 600 acre farm in Gilmer County, Newberne, WV to Arden Lester and Susie Pearl Collins Law.

Edra attended grade school at Newberne Primary School, and graduated with excellent grades from Tanner High School on May 10, 1950. She was a wonderful wife and mother and took excellent care of their home. She worked for 37 ½ years at Best Photo in Walker, Manville Shelter Work. She married Dennis C. Smith on November 11, 1952, they had a rich and fulfilling 54 years together until his passing in 2008. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left behind to cherish her memory include her brother, Jennings Law of Glenville, WV sons, David (Carole) Smith, Edward (Lisa) Smith; twelve grandchildren; twenty two great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; two foster children, Ralph Richards, Donna Chipps; one special grandson, Scott Vanfossen; son-in-law , Jim Teters.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Tina Lou; two sisters, Elloise, Rejennia; three brothers, Arden, Denver, and Raymond.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Marion Rollins for her love and care.

Funeral services will be 1 P.M. Thursday April 25, 2024 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home with Pastor Chris Waldron officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. at the funeral home.
