Doris Christine (Riley) Smith

1928 - 2017

Died peacefully, early Sunday morning at Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington WV.

Doris was born in Wood County on July 24, 1928 to the late James W Riley Sr. and Jesse Marie (Britton) Riley and is preceded in death by her husband Roy F Smith, two brothers; James W and Robert C Riley and one daughter, Cheryl Darlene Smith Wilson.

Those left to cherish her memory are three daughters; Linda Smith DeMoss and husband Stephen of Parkersburg, WV, Terri Smith Mullins and husband Rick of Huntington, WV, Christie Smith White of Colorado Springs, Co, three sons; Robert Smith and wife Tina of Houston, TX, Troy Smith and wife Victoria of Houston, TX and Roy Smith of Colorado Springs, CO; and a large extended family with many loving nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Doris was a kind and gentle lady who was also amazingly independent and stubborn. Although very calm by nature, once she decided on an action nothing would stand in her way. Active her entire life she worked at various companies, raised her 7 children, loved camping and going on trips. Even retirement and advancing age never prevented her from being as active as possible.

Funeral services for Doris will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Parkersburg WV. Visitation is 12:00-2:00 pm preceding the funeral. Interment will follow the service at Sunset Memory Gardens.
