He was born on July 23, 1926, in Calhoun County, WV, a son to the late James and Fonda Radabaugh Whipkey. He was veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II. He was a member of the Faith Baptist Church. He loved hunting, fishing, and gardening. He retired from Anchor Hocking Glass in Salem, NJ.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Eulah Lang Whipkey; five sons, Steven and his wife, Elaine, of NJ, Gregory Whipkey and his wife, Pam, of Mineral Wells, Michael Whipkey and his wife, Mary, of NJ, Mark Whipkey and his wife, Debbie, of NJ, and Donzel Lee Whipkey and his wife, Donna, of NJ; nine grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; three brothers, Marven Whipkey and his wife, Ruthelene, of Parkersburg, Wavel Whipkey and his wife, Reba, of Vienna, and Gail Siers and his wife, Barbara, of Elizabeth; and one sister, Barbara Roberts of Nobe, WV; and one brother-in-law, Franklin Cain of Parkersburg.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, James Logan Whipkey; and two sisters, Willa Dene Amos and Mini May Cain.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 22 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Pastor Jim Yoak officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens.
