He was born on September 29th, 1939 in Parkersburg, the son of the late Clarence Matherson Layman and Harriet Fink Layman.
Clarence was a member of the Gospel Tabernacle Church. He was a Bricklayer all his life. Clarence came from a big family and enjoyed the time spent on vacations. You could also find Clarence enjoying his garden and working on his wooden crafts. He also would spend his time camping.
Clarence is survived by his daughters, Sheila Kay Swiger of Clarksburg and Karen Sue Rader of Vienna; two granddaughters he and his late wife Jerry raised Christy and Brenda Swiger; 7 grandkids; 12 great-grandkids; 2 great-great grandkids; sisters Hazel Rolston of Boaz, Blanche Rogers of Marietta, Mary Currence, Julia Thomas, Donna Linger and Sharon Staats all of Parkersburg; brothers Fred Layman of Vienna and Paul Layman of Walker.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife Geraldine Ann (Lamp) Layman of 59 years, granddaughter Melissa Sue Rader, sister Annabel DeLong and brother Charles.
Funeral Services will be Thursday, March 8th, 2018 at 1pm at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home and Memory Gardens, Parkersburg with Wayne Booth officiating.
