Betty Jane Townsend Graham, 78, of Murphytown, W.Va., passed away December 5, 2022, surrounded by family. She was born July 31, 1944, in Parkersburg, and was the daughter of the late Albert Anderson Townsend and of the late Anna Lois Kidder Townsend. She graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1961 and was on the PHS gymnastics team. In high school is where she met the love of her life, Ed Graham. She was a wonderful wife and mother to her three sons. Also, Betty taught square dancing and country line dancing, founded the Country Squares with her husband, and was a member of the Star Dusters square dance groups. She traveled with her husband nationwide hosting square dances for over 25 years. She was a leader of the Stillwell 4-H Club, a 4-H All-Star and a member of The Rock Family Worship Center. She enjoyed traveling, sewing, baking, hosting gatherings and helping anyone who needed help. She was most proud of her three sons and loved spending time with each of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. One of Betty’s favorite scriptures that she lived by and wanted everyone to know and live is John 13:34 “I am giving you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, so you too are to love one another.” Betty is survived by her sons, Scott and Martha Graham of Fort Worth, TX, and Chris and Ginny Graham of Murphytown, WV.; her grandchildren, Matthew Graham of Fort Worth, TX, Janessa and Isaiah Turman of Fort Worth, TX, Aaron and Kayla Graham of Murphytown, WV, Bethany Graham of Crescent City, FL, Dustin Graham of Rembert, SC and Connor Graham of Murphytown, WV; her great grandchildren, Ellie and Chloe Graham of Murphytown, WV and Ezra Turman of Fort Worth, TX; her brothers, Carl and Bonnie Townsend of Wheeling, WV and Bill and Linda Townsend of Murphytown, WV; her sister, Wanda and Gary Townsend of Mineral Wells, WV; many nieces and nephews; and several more loving family members and many caring friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Randal Eric "Randy" Graham. Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 12, 2022, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, with Pastor David Chisholm officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, December 11, 2022, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Parkersburg.
