Alice Leach, age 88, was carried away by angels to be with her Heavenly Father after a long battle with dementia on March 21, 2025 in Parkersburg, WV. Alice was born on April 12, 1936 in Graham Station, WV to the late Mae (Rickard) Howard and Stephen L. Howard.
She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years; Jim Leach, a son David (Tonia) Leach of Duluth, GA, daughters; Kaye (Bruce) Loyd of Horner, WV, and Susan (Eric) Farnsworth of Lubeck, WV, as well as a sister; Marjorie Strickland of NC, and grandchildren; Ben (Stefani), Kara (Alex), Anna, Taya, Samantha (Zach), Thomas, Meredith, and one Great Grandchild; Anna Ray.
She is preceded in death by two sisters; Barbara Gilland and Georgia Milhoan, and one brother; Rupert Howard.
Alice was a homemaker and a member of Fairlawn Baptist Church. She was a diehard Mountaineer fan and attended many football games with her husband for 40+ years and enjoyed the WVU marching band. She also liked cows, deer and cats, gardening, canning, sewing, and spending precious moments with her grandchildren.
Alice was a 1954 graduate of Wahama High School in Mason, WV, was a member of the concert band and played the flute and piccolo. She was also a majorette in the marching band and a volunteer 4-H leader for many years.
A service will be conducted by Pastor Rick Morgan at Fairlawn Baptist Church, located at 215 Fairlawn Drive, Parkersburg, WV on Wednesday, March 26th at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. A visitation will take place on Tuesday evening, March 25th from 4:00 to 7:00 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. 1934 Dupont Road, Parkersburg, WV.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Fairlawn Baptist Church Building Fund.
