Andrew “Andy” Marion Jones, a lifelong resident of Parker, AZ, died peacefully on November 2, 2017 at the age of 52. Professionally, he was General Manager of Colorado River Sewer System as well as serving as Vice Chairman on the Clean Colorado River Sustainability Coalition (CCRSCo) and President of the Board of Directors for The Lower Colorado River Resource Conservation & Development District.
Andy is survived by; his wife, Cynthia “Sassy” Jones; his children, Aaron, Steven, Andrew and Elizabeth.
Andy was born in Blythe, California on December 29, 1964 to Daniel and Audrey Jones. He graduated from the Parker High School in 1983 and joined the Air Force. He served honorably and with great pride for 10 years reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant. On September 2nd 1988, he married Sassy, his first true love.
Andy was a devoted father, husband and a true friend to many. He was proud to be an enrolled Citizen of The Cherokee Nation and of his Irish heritage. He enjoyed shooting, golfing, creating custom built computers and inventing new gadgets. In his household and with close friends he shared his love of cooking and became famous for his Smiley’s BBQ. He loved where he lived and often took his friends into the desert to share our beautiful environment and the history of our community. He was devoted to his community, running for county elections and helping with the local FFA, 4-H, Little League, Parker High School Sports and local pageants. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all (well, mostly all) who knew him.
A funeral service with full military honors is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on December 2nd at the Parker Cemetery followed by a celebration of life and family service at Blake School Auditorium, all are welcome to attend both.
