It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, daughter, and sister, Teresa Pomroy Thornton. She left us on Tuesday, April 9, 2024.
She was a beacon of love, kindness, strength, and her absence leaves a void that will never be filled.
Teresa, the daughter of Gary Pomroy and Ruth Ann Hewitt, was born on Jan. 26, 1971, a birthday she shared with a sister. She attended Delmar High School where her infectious laughter and bright smile illuminated even the darkest of days. She made many lifelong friends there that remained a part of her life throughout the years.
She married Chris Thornton in 2000, and they had three wonderful children, Nathaniel Thornton, Tristan Thornton and Madelyn Thornton, who were the light of their mother’s life.
She graduated with a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Texas A&M Commerce in 2004. She touched countless lives with her compassion, generosity, and unwavering support.
Teresa had a zest for life and was a source of inspiration and joy to all who knew her.
Whether through her devotion to her family, work, and patients, she embodied the spirit of love and selflessness.
She was known as Aunt Tree Frog to her special nephews, Dustin Pruett & Jordan Pruett, and her nieces, Kaeton Benedict, Riley Benedict, and MaKenzie Benedict, and showed them her zest for life, 80’s music and impromptu dancing.
She was a faithful Christian and will forever be remembered for her loyalty, faith, and protection of her family.
In her later years, she discovered a love for circle track racing and the company of her special friend, Brad Ford.
Survivors include her father, Gary D. Pomroy of Paris, her mother, Ruth Ann Hewitt of Paris, son, Nathaniel Thornton (Courtney) of Paris, daughters, Tristan Thornton of Paris and Madelyn Thornton of Paris, sisters, Tina Pomroy Eudy (Larry) of Fort Pierce, FL, Cassie Benedict (Jason) of Paris, and Leslie Hewitt Cannon (Steve) of Paris along with a plethora of friends.

Although she may no longer walk beside us, Teresa’s spirit and love will live on in our memories of her beautiful soul.
