Margie Pearl Dennis, 78, of Sumner, passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at Paris Regional Medical Center. Services are scheduled for 3:00 pm, Sunday, July 31, 2016 at Bright-Holland Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Bob Seale and Reverend Mark Hutchison officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Tabor Cemetery. The family will receive friends, one hour prior to service time, at the funeral home. Mrs. Dennis was born April 24, 1938, in Woodlake, CA to James Noel Parson and Velma Lorene Moore Parson. She married Billy Wayne Dennis, in the Direct Baptist Church on July 25, 1957, building 59 years and 1 day of family and memories. Margie graduated from Central High School in 1956 and she attended Draughon Business College in Dallas. She was very active in the PTA and the North Lamar Band Boosters. She was also involved for many years with the Young Homemakers of Texas. Margie was a faithful member of the Mt. Tabor-Sumner United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and was the church secretary for many years. Margie was an active member of the Pastor Parish Relations Committee of the North Lamar Parish. She retired after 20 years with the Lamar County Appraisal District and was widely known as a great cook and seamstress. She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband, Billy; two daughters, Marsha Dennis of Sumner and Michelle Sleeper & husband Joey of Sumner; one grandson, Caleb Sleeper & fiancée Kaitlyn Skidmore; siblings, James “Bill” Parson of Nacogdoches, Jeanne Ford of Sash, Sharon Green & husband Frank of Direct, Mary Roberts & husband Larry of Unity, Judy Ward of Bogata and Gary “Buster” Parson & wife LaTonne of Direct, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. Casket Bearers will be Phil Harris, Anthony Lopez, Jerry Neil Ward, Marx Offutt, Mike Parsons and Lane Preas. Honorary Casket Bearers will be Floyd McCoin and Jack Dabbs. The family of Mrs. Dennis would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation for the loving care expressed to them by their home health nurse, Dana Cope and the therapists and staff at Signature Home Health Care, Legends Rehabilitation Center and Brookdale Assisted Living.
