Lucy Williams Staley, 88, left this world to receive her heavenly reward on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at her home with her family beside her. Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled services for 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 20th at Lamar Avenue Church of Christ with Jared Baggett officiating. Burial will be made in Highland Cemetery at Deport. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 7 – 8 p.m. Lucy was born Nov. 30, 1935, to Hubert Clarence Williams & Kathleen Crockett Williams, in Pattonville, Texas. She graduated from East Lamar High School. On Nov. 11, 1955, she married Harley Ray Staley, building 61 years of family and memories before his death in 2018. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Bill Williams, and a sister-in-law, Janie Williams. She worked beside her husband for 40 years as they owned and operated Staley Tile & Marble. Lucy was a member of Lamar Avenue Church of Christ and dearly loved her church family. Survivors include the family she loved so much; a daughter, Kathy Grigsby, a granddaughter, Shonda Anderson, two great granddaughters, Alaka and Marley Walters, four great great grandsons, De’Untre, Asher, Dalyn, and Karter, a special niece, Lisa Tenberge, a sister-in-law, Joy Whitaker (Bobby), and one brother-in-law, Bobby Staley. The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Chambers Hospice for all the kindness and love shown their family and loved one during this time.
