John Harvey Duke

John Harvey Duke, 81, departed this life to be with his heavenly Father on May 14, 2015. Services are scheduled for 10:00 AM Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Rev. Louis Holmes officiating. Burial will follow in Restland Cemetery at Roxton. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Mr. Duke was born June 17, 1933, in Roxton to K. W. & Mary Alice Billingsley Duke. He married Charlene Thomas on Jan. 21, 1956, and together honored a marriage that lasted 59 years. John was a wonderful father that together reared three children. He served in the U. S. Army as an M.P. stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict. John retired from Air Liquide and moved back to his home town of Roxton. He has joined his parents in death, K. W. & Mary Duke, a brother, Patrick Duke, a niece, Andrea Lea Duke and a granddaughter, Hayden Aduddell. Survivors include his wife, Charlene Duke, three children, Dr. Ann Aduddell & spouse Tommy Aduddell of Canton; J. D. Duke & spouse Honorable Crystal Duke of Roxton; Lisa Miller & spouse Randy Miller of Canton, seven grandchildren, CPL Charles Wesley Duke, USMC, Andrea Lea Duke, Mitchell Paul Miller, Grayson Thomas Aduddell, William Patrick Duke, Mason Garrett Miller and Bridgett Nicole Aduddell, three great grandchildren, Liam Ely Duke, Emma Nicole Cooper and Charlotte Olivia Duke along with other extended family and a host of friends. Casket bearers will be: William Patrick Duke, CPL Charles Wesley Duke, USMC, Mitchell Miller, Mason Miller, Grayson Aduddell and Kendall Hatanville.
