James Robert “JR” Vanderburg, 77, passed away Thursday, July 30, 2015, at Paris Regional Medical Center. Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 1st, at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Myre officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. JR, the son of Dewey & Dessie Renfro Vanderburg, was born Jan. 27, 1938, in Sumner. He married Henrietta Otto on May 1, 1965. She precedes him in death. Also preceding him in death are his parents, in-laws, Arthur & Alvina Otta, brother, Dewey Wayne Vanderburg, Jimmy Lee Vanderburg, Larry Dean Vanderburg, a sister, Geraldine Loman, in-laws, Cloyce Armstrong, Edgar Loman, Joann Miller, James Otto and Edwin “Pete” Otto. He leaves behind his daughters, Valerie Vanderburg and Vicki Jones & husband Jeff, a sister, Billie Ruth Armstrong, brothers, Jerrell Vanderburg & wife Linda, Merrell Vanderburg & wife Charlotte and Neal Vanderburg & wife Jane, in-laws, Lois Veien, Grace Rau & husband Dennis, Evelyn Otto and Bill Otto, Freda Vanderburg and Loretha Vanderburg. Special friends, Shane, Angela & Ashlyn Phifer, Ben, Becky & River Brown and Robert & Sandi Rhoades, nieces & nephews, Susan, Roger & Stacy Armstrong, Michael, Terry & Alan Vanderburg, Jennifer McEwin, Patrick Vanderburg, Tanya Bean, Misti Birch, Wesley Vanderburg, Tyler Vanderburg, Lorea Vanderburg, Christie Cook and Christopher Vanderburg, Opal Brown and Donna Blackwood, Larry, Randy, John and Marvin Reed, Leann Hermann, John Veien, Jim Otto, Marc Otto, Sara Otto, Lori York and Andy Otto, Shelly Dukowitz, Bryan Otto and Billy Otto, Greg Rau, Kevin Rau and Tammy Dillard along with numerous great nieces & great nephews and a plethora of friends. His career at Babcock & Wilcox spanned 42 years before his retirement. After retirement he & Henrietta enjoyed camping and fishing. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him. Casket bearers will be: Ben Brown, River Brown, Sean Rhoades, Stacy Armstrong, John Veien and Shane Phifer.
