James Kim Sykes, 59, of Paris, passed away Friday, Sept. 30, 2016, at Paris Regional Medical Center. Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4th, at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Rev. Fred Fangio officiating. Burial will follow in Hopewell Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Kim, the son of James Kent & Lois Jean Jeffery Sykes, was born Oct. 26, 1956, in Paris. He attended Paris High School. His career as a mechanic and shop foreman with Williams Brothers Auto Salvage spanned 37 years. Following retirement, Kim had a second hand bicycle shop and was known as “The Bicycle Man”. He was preceded in death by his father, James Kent Sykes, the mother of his children, Rhonda Lester Davis, and a sister, Jan England. Survivors include his mother, Lois Jean Sykes, three children, Angela Yates-Smith & husband Adrian, James “Jaybo” Sykes & wife Lacey and Christy Matlock & Trey Graum, a brother, Jeff Sykes & wife LaWanda all of Paris, grandchildren, Jonathon Carico, Whitney Carico, Erik Sykes, Alik Sykes, Izik Sykes, Brianna Matlock, Alyssa Sykes and Harley Matlock, a great grandson, Wesley Carico along with several nieces & nephews and a host of friends. Casket bearers will be: Jonathon Carico, Erik Sykes, Alik Sykes, Izik Sykes, Brad Winton and Marshall Hudson. Wesley Carico will serve as an honorary bearer.
