Helen Lucille Hines Barlow, left her earthly home on Sunday, January 18, 2015, to be with her Heavenly Father and her family that will be waiting. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Bright-Holland Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Bill Dickey officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-7 pm, Tuesday at the funeral home. Helen was born August 13, 1935 in Chicota to Joseph Marshall Hines and Mona Campbell Hines. The family moved to Arthur City when Helen was only a few months old. She was saved and baptized at age 13 at Arthur City Baptist Church. Helen enjoyed music, always singing with her sisters, then with choirs and special music with a trio and alto solos. She married Don Barlow on March 18, 1955 in Durant, OK building over 59 years of family and memories. She graduated high school with honors and worked for Southwestern Bell in the Business Office until Don was transferred to Longview in 1971. She worked for the Gladewater School District for nine years; Dillard’s as a department manager in both Dallas and Longview; then owned The Gift Shop in Gladewater. While in Dallas, she also worked for Prudential Insurance as a secretary. Helen and Don were blessed with four wonderful children—Donna Rae Craig & husband Mike, Gwendolyn Ann Schumaker, Richard Gene Barlow & wife Yong Suk and James Keith Barlow & wife Alice. Keith preceded Helen in death after a long battle with Leukemia. Keith was husband to Alice Anderson Barlow and dad to step-daughter Chelsey Anderson. Also, preceding her in death were her parents, three brothers and two sisters—Aubrey & Cordelia Hines, William Campbell Hines, Ina Mae & Glenn Savage, Joe Cline Hines, Joyce Sparks, father-in-law Dale Barlow, brother-in-law Raymond Barlow, nephew, Kendall Hines and great niece, Rebecca Mashburn. Helen leaves behind to cherish her memory her children, five grandchildren, whom she adored; Jeremy Craig, Jessica Schumaker, Justin Craig, Audrey Barlow and Raymond Barlow and special friend Sarah Jacobs; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Latresa Colbert & husband Ed; sister-in-law Betty Hines; nieces and nephews, Denny Hines, Phyliss Jones, Glen Savage, Carolyn Young, Rusty Hines, Nancy Barak, Laurie Mashburn, Rhonda Forbis, Lynnette Johnson, Suzette Rosson, Kim Wagliardo and Debra Colbert. Her three cousins, along with a daughter- in-law of one of the cousins, were a great support by calling and visiting regularly. Helen was close with all of Don’s family and loved them like she loved her own family and personal friends. Casket Bearers will be Dale Conrad, Denny Barlow, Raymond Barlow, Mike Craig, Jimmy Rossen and Carl Johnson.
