Atco, NJ-Marilyn Jean Sundstrom (Rossow), 73, of The Villages, Florida and more recently of Atco, New Jersey, passed away on Monday, December 23, 2019. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family.
Marilyn was born in Detroit, MI on October 23, 1946 to Charles and Geraldine Rossow (DeMay). She attended Our Lady of Sorrows High School in Farmington, MI and went onto to college to earn her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Education from Eastern Michigan University.
Marilyn spent the majority of her teaching career in the Plymouth-Canton, MI School District. She was an early elementary grade school teacher at Smith Elementary and later as a Reading Recovery Specialist at Farrand Elementary.
Marilyn married her beloved husband Richard in May,1980. They lived in Plymouth Michigan for over 15 years and were members of St. John’s Episcopal Church. Rick and Marilyn also started and owned Strom Computer in Plymouth for over 12 years.
In 2000 Marilyn and Rick moved to Pensacola Beach, FL. While there, she was active at Pensacola Beach Elementary including serving on the Governing Board. She also volunteered with Rick at the American Red Cross. In 2007-2008, Marilyn and Rick moved to The Villages, FL where they enjoyed retirement including shuffleboard, trivia nights, and riding the golf cart. Marilyn loved to travel, work on many art projects, and spend time with her friends and family.
Marilyn is survived by her son, John Kostyo (Brook), of Marlton, NJ; her sisters Carol (James) of Milford, MI; Kathy (Charles) of Farmington Hills, MI; Sharon (John) of Crawfordsville, IN; her grandson, Alexander; granddaughter, Emma; and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Marilyn’s caring attitude will be remembered by everyone who knew and loved her. She was so thankful to all the family, friends, doctors, nurses, caregivers and clergy who helped her especially over the last 2-3 years. Everyone is invited to celebrate and remember all of the fun times together in their own way. Arrangements are by the Neptune Cremation Society, Paramus, NJ.
