Senior Master Sergeant Vicente Manuel Velasquez United States Air Force (Ret.), also known as “Vince”, passed away after a courageous four-year battle with gastrointestinal stromal tumor cancer.
Vicente is preceded in death by his father, Manuel Torres Velasquez.
Vicente leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife Sandra Velasquez, and two daughters, Isela and Evelyn; grandmother, Maria De Jesús Velasquez Torres; mother, Diana Gines Lopez; brothers Ernesto Velasquez and Manuel Velasquez; sister Christina Marie Guerra, and extended family and friends.
Vicente was born on November 20, 1982, in Chula Vista, Ca. As a young child Vicente was faced with many trials and tribulations. Vicente and Sandra were high school sweethearts and graduated together from Rialto High in California in 2000. His childhood and to prove to Sandra that he would do something meaningful with his life, lead him toward his enlistment in the U.S. Air Force at the young age of 18 years old, on January 3, 2001. Vicente and Sandra married in 2002. He served this country for 20 years with serval overseas assignments including tours to various countries in Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.
While living overseas Vicente and Sandra grew their family. For approximately the first 12 years of his service, Vicente and family were able to reside in Europe, using every opportunity that came before him to offer a lifetime worth of memories for his wife and daughters by showing them the world. In 2016, Vicente and family returned to the states, making Papillion, Nebraska their home. It is here in Nebraska, where Vicente watched his family thrive.
Vicente was a man of respect and pride and could always be counted on. In the Air Force, he was a commended airman, a fellow warrior brother, and a mentor to others; and retired May 29, 2021. Vicente also reached his goals in education. He graduated from Southwest College with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and a Master of Business Administration from Liberty University.
During Vicente’s 39 years of life, he lived a beautiful love story with the love of his life, cherished his children, saw much of the world, and made unforgettable memories with family and friends. His wife was his rock, and his daughters were his world. Vicente was an extraordinary husband and father and dedicated his time to providing his children with the childhood and opportunities he never had. He grew to love the simple things in life, grilling and watching sunsets in the evenings with his family, his avocation was his family.
A visitation for Vicente will be held Thursday, July 21, 2022 from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Kahler Dolce Mortuary, with a funeral service to follow at 12:30 PM. Burial Thursday, July 21, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Omaha National Cemetery, 14250 Schram Road, Omaha, Nebraska 68138.
