Ronald E. Smith

He was united in marriage to Nadine Carsey on February 13, 1955. They celebrated 54 years of marriage and were blessed with 4 children; Ronna, Gary, Jill and Bonnie.

In his early years, Ron attended school in Plattsmouth, NE. He would often ride his horse Smokey to and from school and enjoyed participating in the local rodeos. He also helped on the family farm. They later moved to Gretna, NE.

Ron was a truck driver for many years for Chip Carriers and Pamida-Gibson where he earned many safe driving awards. He retired from driving and continued with his love of farming. Ron enjoyed telling stories and frequently visited the Pit Stop in Springfield, NE to catch up on all the good gossip.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nadine; Parents, Glen and Leona; daughter Ronna Jensen; sister Glenda Kritenbrink; and infant brother, Gary.

Ron is survived by his son Gary (Pat) Smith, LaVista, NE; daughters, Jill (Randy) Darnold, Underwood, IA, Bonnie (Elliot) Bade, Meeker, OK; son-in-law, Bill Jensen, Underwood, IA; sister Joyce Neitzel, Springfield, NE; brother-in-law, Dennis (Marsha) Carsey, Fremont, NE; 4 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-granddaughters; and dear family friend Marlene West, along with many other relatives and friends.

VISITATION Monday 5-7pm. FUNERAL Tuesday 10am, all at Kahler-Dolce Mortuary. BURIAL at Cedar Dale Cemetery, Papillion.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Papillion-LaVista Fire Department.
