It is with immense sadness that we announce the loss of our little fighter, Luke, on August 7, 2024. Luke Joseph Gast, “LJ”, was born on October 29, 2021, in Panama City, FL. He passed away in his mother’s arms, free of pain and discomfort, in Omaha, NE at just two years old.
Luke received a tough hand in life but never let it bring him down. Despite his severe cerebral palsy, rare epilepsy diagnosis, and more, you could always find a smile on his face, especially on a slide or swing. Luke was a true thrill-seeker. The middle brother to his IVF twin and surprise baby brother, Luke was included in every second. He created an everlasting bond with them both.
Though his time on this Earth was small, his impact certainly was not. Luke reached thousands of people with his story; a true underdog who never gave up. He was an inspiration to his family and his community and his light will continue to shine on forever.
The Gast family would like to thank every medical worker who was part of his journey, his amazing caregivers, his selfless therapists, and his family and friends from near and far.
In lieu of flowers, Luke’s family is requesting donations to start a foundation in his name. Luke’s foundation will help kids just as amazing as he was, who are in desperate need of durable medical equipment and inclusive playgrounds where they can be kids.
VISITATION Friday, August 16th, 2024 from 5-8pm at Kahler-Dolce Mortuary. CELEBRATION OF LIFE Saturday, August 17th, 2024 at 11:00am at the Millard Social Hall, 10508 S 144th St, Omaha, NE 68138.
