Lorraine is survived by husband and best friend Jim Kohler of Bellevue, NE; brother Art (Marsha) Lienemann of Ayr, NE; sister Barbara (Javier Melendez) Velazquez of Omaha, NE; brother Bill (Tara) Lienemann of Omaha, NE; uncle, Carl (Mary Ann) Petrmichl; as well as many loving nephews, nieces, cousins, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by parents Art and Mary(Petrmichl) Lienemann of Papillion, NE.
Lorraine grew up on a farm south of Papillion. She attended Platteview High School and graduated in 1969. After high school, Lorraine attended the University of Nebraska, graduating in 1973 with a degree in Mathematics. She soon began her career working as a computer analyst for many companies in Lincoln, Nebraska, Boise Idaho, Portland, Oregon. She eventually found her way home to Nebraska, moving to Bellevue in 1987.
While living and working in Lincoln, Lorraine met her best friend Jim Kohler. The two were married in 1980.
Lorraine enjoyed all aspects of nature. She travelled to many places and enjoyed hiking through many forests and nature trails. It was common for her to introduce you to a new fawn in her yard when you came to visit her. She loved fireworks and will forever be remembered for leading family gatherings at Rosenblatt Stadium with her nephews, nieces and siblings.
Lorraine was an active member of American Association of University Women-Omaha Branch. She was chairman of the Genealogy Interest Group.
Many will think of her as being quiet or soft-spoken, but Lorraine was never afraid of giving her opinion when it was needed.
Lorraine fought a long hard battle with Cancer for many years but remained positive till the very end.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, September 10, at the Forest Room of Fontenelle Forest; 1111 Bellevue Blvd North, Bellevue, NE 68005. Doors open for service at 5:00 pm. Service begins at 5:30. Zoom connection available at https://zoom.us/j/99141537630
