Joyetta K. Gerdes “Kay”, 82, of Papillion, passed away November 8, 2019
She was born September 3, 1937 in Falls City, NE to Hosea Blue and Eva Etta (Roland) Smith. She
Married Vernal J Gerdes on August 11, 1956; he preceded her in death.
One brother Donald Smith who preceded her in death.
Surviving our her three sons, Rodney and Shelly (O’Hara) Gerdes, Bradley and Deanna (Berner)
Gerdes both of Papillion, NE, Randy and Anne (Henggeler) Gerdes of Leshara, NE, daughter Ann
Marie & (Aurelia Dean) of Wilmington, DE, 13 Grandchildren Ryan, Corey, Codey, Holly, Zachary,
Collette, Bodie, Brooke, Cooper, Tyler, Ben, Kristie, Heather and 9 Great Grandchildren.
Kay was married to Vernal for 55 years before his passing, who she has missed very much since.
They started a business Quality Auto Repair & Towing in 1969 in the Papillion, that has grown over
the years and is mainly towing services now that is ran by there sons Rodney & Bradley. Kay
worked as a Bookkeeper for Shopko, Imperial Tile and her family owned business. She loved
traveling and some of the places she visited was Hawaii, Vegas, Chicago, New York, Delaware,
Philadelphia and Montana. She was a member of Overland Hills Church in Papillion and her organ
group at Critchetts, where she had a lot of friends who she loved to go on outings and socialize with.
And most of all she loved spending time with her family, she always enjoyed when the grandkids
would visit especially when they would bring their babies to see her. She would light up any room
she entered and always had a smile and a hug for everyone she met. She will be greatly missed by
all.
A visitation will be Thursday, November 14 from 6 - 8 PM at Kahler- Dolce Mortuary, 441 N.
Washington Papillion, NE 68046.
Funeral Service will be Friday, November 15th at 10 AM at Overland Hills Church, 11151 S. 90th St.,
Papillion, NE 68046.
Interment at Fairview Cemetery in Papillion, with the luncheon following back at Overland Hills
Church.
