She graduated from Mead High School in 1994 and went on to receive her cosmetology and barber licenses from Bahner College of Hairstyling in Fremont in 1996. On April 29, 2000, she married Jason Sjodin at Westside Church in Omaha, Nebraska surrounded by family and friends. Jason and Heather’s family soon grew with the additions of children, daughter Jessica and son Isaiah.
Heather spent most of her adult life helping others. Through 2017, Heather helped make people beautiful while lending a listening ear at various salons in the Omaha area. Most recently, Heather could be found at New Era in Papillion – the community she called home. It was sitting in Heather’s chair that so many of us found something other than just a new hair style, but a friend always willing to listen and give an encouraging word.
Heather invested much of her time in serving the children of her church. She joyfully served in the Children’s Ministry helping lead many, many kids into a lifelong relationship with Jesus Christ.
A lover of the outdoors, Heather relished in the opportunities to be out in God’s creation. Whether it was camping in a tent at the lake, hiking in the mountains or going out for one of her many early morning runs, Heather loved being outdoors.
If you knew Heather, you knew her deep love for her Huskers and Green Bay Packers. Whether it be watching Husker football or volleyball or Packer football, watching Heather root on (or give some strong “encouragement” to) her teams was always a fun experience.
Heather is survived by her husband Jason; two children, Jessica and Isaiah; her parents, George and Karen; sister Lindsay; two nephews and a host of cousins, friends and other family members.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, September 30, 2019 at 10:30 AM at Calvary Christian Church in Bellevue. Visitation will be Sunday from 4-6 PM at Kahler-Dolce in Papillion. In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorial be made to the Calvary Christian Church Children’s Ministry to honor Heather’s legacy of investing in the next generation of Christ followers.
