Frank was born in Mount Desert Island, and grew up in Seal Harbor Maine. His fondest memories involved helping his Grandfather with chores. They would carve ice in the winter for “ice boxes”, and deliver food to people in need.
He joined the army after school, and on his 18th birthday, he was on a troop carrier ship headed to Germany. This was the start of an illustrious military career. He served 3 years in the army, and came home to marry his sweetheart, Grace. They were married for 69 years.
He re-enlisted into the Air Force, and he and Grace traveled the world together. He did two tours of duty in Thailand, and fell in love with the country. While there, he helped build an orphanage. After he retired, he and Grace would return to Thailand frequently to visit.
Frank loved to talk to people, and never forgot a name. He was always ready with a quick quip. He helped so many people, and will be greatly missed.
Frank is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Grace; children, Kimberly (Tim) Hatfield, Donna Jordan; grandchildren, Christopher Herzog, Jessica Cavin; great-grandchildren, Cameron, Caden, and Colton Cavin, and Corbin Herzog.
