Carol Rae Clausen, age 73, born in Sioux City, Iowa, on August 6, 1948, passed quietly in her sleep on March 14, 2022. She has lived in Papillion, Nebraska since 1993. She was the daughter of Laurel Keith Bland and Viola Idall Edgington, who preceded her death.
Carol graduated Denison High School in 1966 and eloped two short years later with Dale on April 23, 1968 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She was a Chiefs fan through the good seasons and bad, an avid reader and a Sudoku player. Carol also created beautiful crochet and lace pieces which grace her home.
Carol was a diligent leader, serving on many committees in her community. She was the president of Living Lace of Omaha, and was a Central Region Director of International Organization of Lace Inc (IOLI). She also volunteered with the Red Cross. Carol was a lead for the Red Cross volunteer connection and an advanced instructor. In the past she has served in sheltering and staff services. Carol was an amateur radio operator, which she used while volunteering with Skywarn as a storm spotter dispatcher. Finally, Carol was a past program coordinator for the Tri-County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).
Carol greatly enjoyed traveling to help those in need with the Red Cross. She has deployed nationally for the Red Cross to Maryland and Baton Rouge to support the Red Cross in response to hurricanes. She also traveled to the yearly IOLI conventions to increase her talents.
Carol is survived by her husband, Dale E. Clausen and her daughter, Lori A., and her son, Dale W, all of Papillion. She is also survived by her cockatiel Bella and her grand dog Alfie.
There will be a private grave side service for Carol at a later date. The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, you send donations to American Red Cross or the Midlands Humane Society.
