Rudolph Joseph Spina, 96, of Paoli, passed away peacefully on Sunday November 4, 2018. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Alice, for 69 years. Rudy served with the Marines 3rd Division in the South Pacific, where he was wounded in battle and honorably discharged. Upon returning home, he worked as an auto mechanic and was the owner of “Rudy’s Mobil Station.” He married his wife Alice in 1946 and they had 5 children together.
He is survived by his children James (Marcia), Jennie (Paul), (Ann Marie (deceased)) (John), David (Victoria), Mary Alice, as well as his 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Throughout his lifetime, he remained active with the Chester County Marine Corps League and proudly displayed the American and Marine Corps flags on his property. Rudy was an active member of St. Norbert’s Church in Paoli. He also was a pillar of the community, where he regularly supported local events and affairs. He enjoyed woodworking, crafting dollhouses, and feeding the birds, squirrels and other animals in his backyard.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Viewing on Wednesday, November 7th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Thursday, November 8th from 11:30 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Alleva Funeral Home, Inc. 1724 E. Lancaster Ave, Paoli, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday November 8th at 1 p.m. at St. Norbert Church, 50 Leopard Rd, Paoli, PA. Internment at Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Rudy’s honor to the Chester County Marine Corps League Detachment #286, PO Box 828, Downingtown, PA 19335.
