The staff and members of Wayne Senior Center send our condolences to Jill and the rest of Rogers family. Roger was a familiar face at the Center, stopping in often for coffee and conversation, to read the newspaper, or talk sports with staff and other members. We will miss him!

I am sorry to learn of Roger's passing.  My condolences to his loving family.  Roger was a life long friend to my family.  He was very kind with a great sense of humor.   We played  baseball and football together and generally hung out  at South Devon field in the '60s.  He was a fierce competitor with a strong, principled and courageous approach to life.   He was a dear and loyal friend.  We would also hang out at the St. David's Rectory which was my family's home.  I remember his Anglia, an English Ford wagon that we would all pile in and cruise the beautiful surroundings of Devon and Wayne and take an occasional trip to the Wayne Diner.   My brother Fred and I had a nice long reunion lunch with Roger in Berwyn a few years ago after not seeing him for far too many years.

Roger was a welcome set of hands as he volunteered in the Medical Staff Office at Paoli Hospital.  He endured my antics, offered sage advice on days that were crazy, and kept me laughing.  I relished those days, and will always have the fondest memories of Jill, too- one of the professional healthcare crew that put Paoli Hospital on the map.   My sincerest condolences to Roger's family -- angel hugs all around.  

Roger and I had been friends for 32 years. We shared countless memories from the Baseball Hall of Fame, to Baseball card and memorabilia shows, to dinners, and to 20 years of gathering for the Superbowl. He was one of the strongest people I had ever known. He never let his condition get in his way of having fun and enjoying life. I am very grateful that Roger and I were friends for such a long time. It was an honor and privilege just to know him.  My deepest sympathies to Jill, Sarah, Clay and all of the grandchildren. Rest in peace my friend.

I always liked and admired Roger from the time we were high school classmates, and considered him a friend.  We lived near each other as adults, and I would often see him during my morning walks, when we would share recent news about family and mutual acquaintances.   Roger treated everyone equally.  He never complained or criticized and was supportive to everyone he knew.  He deserved a longer life.  I will miss him.

Thanks for the memories, Rog, especially of all those summers we spent playing baseball at South Devon Field. Your courage and competitive spirit in the face of your physical challenges was an inspiration to all of us. Rest in peace, old friend.

RIP Roger, You will be missed.  Roger used to come into the bank and chat with me about the Dodgers and sports memorabilia.  He always brought a smile to our faces when he rolled up in his scooter.  He always was concerned about other people and was a breath of fresh air in an area that's known for being uppity.  I am thinking and praying for Jill and the family.  You are blessed for having Roger for so many years, there was no one else quite like him.

I was sorry to learn of Roger's recent passing.  I did not recall him from our Radnor days -- he being in the Class of '64 and me in '65.  However, I got to know Roger during our participation in a series of quarterly dinners of Radnor alumni that Jon Wood was responsible for starting at McKenzie's in Frazer.  Once or twice I recall driving Roger home from these events and enjoyed our reminisces about our childhood summer days at Radnor Township's local parks competing against each other in various sports.  Roger was a mainstay at South Devon Field and I spent many of those days in Garrett Hill at the Rosemont School playground/park.  My condolences to Roger's family.  Rest in Peace, Roger!

My name is Fred Knewstub. Roger was a great friend. I am sorry to hear of his passing and send my condolences to his family and loved ones. When Roger and I were younger, we and our cohorts had a variety of great adventures. When we played football at South Devon Field,  Roger played quarterback and threw a good number of passes, many for touchdowns. We were tough to beat with Roger at QB!


Roger was a true and kind friend. I will never forget the wonderful times we had together being on the same Softball Team, lifting weights in his basement, going to sporting events, and being avid Penn State Football fans. Besides being a loyal friend. I learned a great deal from him concerning courage and perseverance. Roger had a big impact on my life and he will be missed by all that knew him. All my condolences to Jill, Clay, and Sara with love.

So sorry to hear off the passing of Roger.   I haven't seen him for over 45 years,  since I left  S.E. PA.    We were teenagers and spent a lot of time together.  He was a true and loyal friend.   He even helped teach me to drive.  Good Bye dear friend.
