Pete was a long time buddy of 42 years.  He always had a smile and a laugh for everyone.  He was a man's man with a heart larger then life.
Pete always was ready to hunt geese and go get something to eat.
His stories never ended to just went into each other.

Here's a question of family genealogy & whether Peter Melchior was a relative
          My mother, Helen D'Onofrio Kauffmann (born Helen DiDrancesco)  always spoke of "Rosie from Cedar Hollow", a relative around her own age who had children named similarly to my mother's own children: Dolores, Arlene, & I think Helen....& also a son Peter.  
           I think these are Melchiors.
            Also, my cousin, Al DeLeo, was friendly with a Pete (I think) Melchior. These people were connected with construction or perhaps quarrying... as my  grandfather was Vincenzo DiFrancesco, who had quarries & a construction company.  Cousin  Al was roughly Pete Melchior's age & spoke of him fairly often.
             So... am I related in some way to the  Melchiors, since I think my mother & Rosie were related ( cousins?)?  We had a family reunion maybe  35/40 years ago &, to my mothers delight, "Rosie from Cedar Hollow" came,  & they chatted away like school girls!
               One of Rosie's daughters, Dolores or Arlene. had longish blondish hair when we were 
adolescents / early teenagers ( the only time I ever met them).   My sister, Dolores  has only recently died at 85 (I'm now 82).  Are Rosie's children still alive?
                 I think we must be related in some way, but most likely through my DiFrancesco  grand-
 mother (Philomena, I think).
                  Anyway, if anybody knows anything about this, please let me know.  When I heard at church today that Pete Melchior had died,  it was a piece of my past that I'd like to remember.

I am so saddened by the passing of Pete, a person that I always thought would be around forever. But, while reflecting on Pete over the last couple of days, I have come to realize that I am incredibly blessed to have had the ‘World’s Greatest Godfather’ and Godmother.

Pete’s sense of style and coolness along with those popeye like forearms embodied a super strength, anyone who ever shook Pete’s hand knows what I am writing about. But his character, work ethic, always treating people the way he wanted to be treated, caring for others, his kindness, generosity and his heart, were for me, his greatest strengths.   

One of the last times I spent with Pete was when I ran into my Godparents at St Norbert’s for daily mass. It was just so wonderful to witness their routine and see how much they enjoyed, loved and took care of each other.  

God-Mom, Patty, Pete and David; Maria and I and our family send our love and condolences. You are in our thoughts and prayers.  

I truly believe that Pete and my Pop are in heaven right now, in rocking chairs, enjoying each other’s company, talking ol’ times and sipping on some really nice scotch.

I will miss you Pete, the best Godfather a guy could have, Rest in Peace. 

I met Pete (and Vince) working on a legal matter more than twenty years ago.  I’d visit them at their office on Yellow Springs Road.  The warmth, genuineness, humor, and mutual respect between the brothers, and the men who worked with them was apparent.  It just felt good to be around them.   The experience of  walking down the street with Pete in Phoenixville was something  I won’t forget.  The mayor.  It wasn’t just that he seemed to know everyone in town, but it was obvious that they all felt the same connection to him that I did.  He was the favorite uncle that I didn’t know I had.  That bone-crushing handshake, hearty laugh, his highly intelligent, disarming Colombo-like questioning that went right to the point, the prodigious memory that both Vince and I marveled at, the loving way he talked about Franny, his family, his incredible generosity.  We will miss him.  I’ll never forget you, Pete.  
      

Having known Pete and the Melchiorre family for more than 40 years both socially and in business, Susan and I can only say that the hole in the hearts of the many that have had the gift of knowing him is only eclipsed by his eternal spirit moving us forward. One of the greats. May you rest in peace.

Just calling to mind Pete Melchiorre brings a smile to my being.  What  a caring and loving man he was.  He always had a kind word for everyone; if you saw him on a daily basis or only on an occasional visit, he always had that unforgettable smile and always a kind word.  
The world was a better place because of Pete's presence.  We will miss you dear man, but know you will be that bright shining star always...

Dad was my hero.  A couple of things to get out of the way.  Dad was never on time, ever.  He never backed down from a challenge and believed that if you work hard and are kind, great things can happen.  He lived all 85 of his years being kind to his family, friends, employees and even strangers.  With that kind approach, he had no time for complaining, whining, crying or "belly aching," ever.  He made us laugh ALL the time.  He loved Mom with all of his heart and on Monday morning (the morning he passed), he left their home to play golf but returned within 5 minutes as he forgot to give Mom a kiss and tell her that he loved her.  We are grateful that he returned and that their last words were indicative of his feelings for her.  He was a man's man but had a tender side that few saw.  Dad was my hero.  Your son, Dave

Pete was a great friend who I met about 7 years ago. We played in the Fraternal Order of Police golf outing since then. I met Pete in the parking lot of the Downingtown Country Club on September 9th and walked him to the breakfast area to grab a bite before we teed off. Vince and Jim Franciscus were already at the table. We were at our golf carts wondering where Pete was when someone hollered to me , your man is down in front of the Country Club. Many EMT s were already performing CPR until the ambulance arrived. Pete will be dearly missed as a member of the community, family man, and generous supporter of many organizations. Rest In Peace, our good friend and golf partner. You will be dearly missed. Butch Dutter. 

Fondly remembering Mr. Pete Melchiorre. So many great memories with the Melchiorres in their gracious home, back in the day. It was a great place to hang out. They always made us feel welcomed. I'll never forget words of wisdom from Pete about how to safely drive on dark roads, and think of him still when I find myself on one. Michael and I send our love  and deepest condolences to Patty, Pete, David and to Mrs Melchiorre, you and your entire family are in our hearts and prayers. What a big, beautiful family-all thanks to those childhood sweethearts.

I was so sad to hear about Pete's passing. He has been such a wonderful friend to our family for so many years and a wonderful support to my mom after my father passed. 
I am sure that my father (Mike Rodgers) and Pete are sitting up in Heaven having a game dinner with all the trimmings and scheduling ROMEO (retired old men eating out) luncheons for every day of the week.
Pete you will be sorely missed, such a wonderful man to family and friends.
I know how close the Melchiorre family is, sending prayers and love your way.
