Pat is the daughter of Elmer and Margaret (Basso) Kratt and beloved wife for 60 years of her late husband John B. Silverwood. Pat was born and raised in Hancock of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, and attended Hancock High, then obtained her degree from the University of Michigan School of Nursing and became a Registered Nurse. Her nursing career began at The Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan working in surgery and post operative areas.
Pat and John knew one another in high school but reconnected post college in Detroit where they both happened to land employment. Not soon after they were married in June of 1950, Pat moved into a nursing role for General Motors at their diesel motor plant taking care of employees and all worker related minor injury interventions. During the decade of the 1950’s Pat and John welcomed four sons into their growing family. Pat was very often recognized by many of her friends as one of the sweetest people they had ever met, her compassion as a nurse echoed to all she met and her positive energy will live on in many whom she touched.
In the early 1960’s opportunities brought the family to Pennsylvania where John B worked at General Electric’s space center in Valley Forge, and Pat continued her nursing career at Paoli Hospital and Devon Manor. It was here in PA when Pat and John became active members of Chester Valley Golf Club of Malvern, PA. Their golf interests took them to Pinehurst, NC and to Naples, FL. Eventually Pat and John moved to the Shannondell retirement community in Audubon where many new friendships were formed.
Pat was predeceased by her sister Marcella Hall and her parents. She is survived by her sons, John F. (Jean), Mark S. (Rozanne), James M. (Lisa) and Kenneth E. (Wendy), 13 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
A funeral mass will held at St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church in Norristown, PA., Tuesday, December 6, 2022, 9:30 a.m with private graveside services. In lieu of flowers, contributions would be appreciated in her memory to Surrey Services in Devon, PA.
