Born 29 July 1916 Jefferson County Township, Grant Idaho, Carlson Farm on the Snake River, in a home built by her parents. In the arms of Our Lord, 17 April 2021 Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania, surrounded by loving family, and supportive care givers.
Mabel is predeceased by her parents Erick Bernhardt Carlson and Amelia Charlotte Becker, her husband Herman William Bluhm, daughter Janet Ruth, siblings Leonard Henry, Reynold “buster” Bernhardt, Vivian Pfotenhauer (Marty), Leola Pfotenhauer (Alex), stepchildren Clara Gallup, Elsa Reese, Barbara Brown, Herman Frank and Richard Bluhm, and step-grandsons Robert William Bluhm, Robert Jenkins Reese, Walter “Buddy” Gallup.
Mabel is survived by her devoted son William Richard, daughter-in-law Edna Volz, granddaughters Hope V. and Emily V. Bluhm; and over 100 nieces, nephews, and step-children.
Mabel shared her love with 5 grown stepchildren and many grandchildren of the Bluhm family and with many nieces and nephews and cousins in the Pfotenhauer and Becker extended families. She received this love in turn 10-fold.
Mabel made a home in Idaho, Colorado, New Jersey, Florida and Pennsylvania with the longest being in Fort Lauderdale for 50 years. Mabel worked tirelessly as a member of Peace Lutheran Church, later Shepard of the Coast serving with Lydia’s Fellowship, and as a volunteer in the Thrift Shop. Mabel provided for her family by working at Woolco and Zayres for over 25 years total. Mabel was devoted to Our Lord and shared this devotion with church members in Florida, and new friends at Gloria Dei in PA.
Donations in Mabel’s name can be made to Lydia’s Fellowship at Shepard of the Coast Lutheran Church, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, or Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Blue Bell, Pennsylvania.
Mabel will share a final resting place with her daughter Janet. Services in PA April 24 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Blue Bell, PA 9-10 AM visitation, 10-11 AM service. Services in FL May 1 at Shepard of the Coast, Ft Lauderdale, FL 9-10 AM visitation, 10-11 AM service, with noon internment at Forrest Lawn Memorial Park, Pompano Beach, FL.
