Laura was born on July 29, 1921 to Lewis B. Chamberlin & Norma E. Chamberlin in Cranbury, New Jersey. After graduating from Princeton High School in 1939, she went on to study nursing at the University of Pennsylvania. It is there that she met James William Padget II, who was a patient of hers. Laura graduated in 1942, then she & Jim married on Christmas Day, 1942.
Laura & Jim started their family with the birth of James William Padget III in April, 1945 followed by Paula K. Padget in March, 1950.
Nursing was such a big part of her life from 1955 until her retirement in the 1980’s from Broomall Presbyterian Home as Head Nurse.
Laura had many friends & interests. She loved baking, gardening, playing tennis, all kinds of hand work, but more importantly, she made serving others her mission in her church & her community. Her faith was the center point, from which she lived her life.
Laura was predeceased by her parents, Norma & Lewis, her beloved husband Jim, her sister Lillian, her niece Donna, her grandson Jonathan Lewis Padget & her grandson Bradley Stewart Baylor. She is survived by her son, James William Padget III & his wife Sonia, her daughter Paula K Padget, her grandson James William Padget IV & his wife Maria, her granddaughter Laurie Baylor Curtis & her husband Andrew Paul Curtis, & 2 great grandsons, James William Curtis & William Matthew Curtis, as well as many friends & family members.
Laura was loved by all who knew her.
A graveside service for Laura will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at Valley Forge Memorial Gardens (352 S Gulph Rd, King of Prussia, PA 19406).
