She was a long-time resident of Downingtown, PA before living for many years in Birchrunville, PA.
Kathy graduated from Henderson High School in 1970 followed by West Chester University in 1974, where she earned a Bachelors of Arts in Early Education.
Early in her teaching career, Kathy discovered her passion for teaching the youngest of students. She was a long-time preschool teacher at Brandywine School of Early Learning in addition to Hopewell Nursery School, where she shaped many lives.
She also had a passion for gardening and the natural world. Her family could expect to find her planting hundreds flower bulbs or waist deep in water while tending to the backyard pond. If Kathy was not gardening, then she was likely to be happily working on a new project in her sewing room.
Kathy was predeceased by her parents, Jean Fullerton and William Robinson.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband, married one month shy of 49 years, Herbert T. Sweeney, III “Herb”, and her sister Nancy Strayer. She was a devoted mother to her children, Herbert T. IV (Lindsay), and Kelly A. Peterson (Jason) and a loving grandmother to her grandchildren, Jackson H. Sweeney, Briannah G. Sweeney, Avery G. Peterson, and Quinn T. Peterson.
Relatives & friends are invited to her visitation Thursday, July 13th 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM at the Alleva Funeral Home 1724 East Lancaster Ave., Frazer, PA 19301. Internment will be a private ceremony at Philadelphia Memorial Park.
Donations in Kathy’s memory may be made to the Ronald McDonald House of Delaware (www.rmhde.org).
