John Z. Matkowski (fondly known as “Mott”) passed away peacefully on August 30, 2017 after a courageous struggle with cancer. Tenacious and in good spirits until the end, his faith, family and friends were the foundation from which he drew strength to beat the odds and live far beyond his diagnosis. John took each setback with grace and carried on.
John was born in Poland on January 28, 1958 and came to the US in 1964. He grew up in “Conshi” and had a successful trucking business, US Transport Inc. John built his business through hard work and dedication. More than anything John was a great friend to many, loving husband to Margot and grandfather to five; Patrick and Rafe Earhart, Michael, Jack and Margaret Miller. He cherished all his many animals; horses, dogs, and cats.
John had honor, integrity and a lust for life. He enjoyed the game of cards with friends and was a savvy player of Baccarat. He loved his Harley, playing golf, pool and the New England Patriots. Cut in the form of John Wayne, he was a man’s man brave and All American, an outdoorsman and cowboy at heart who never got enough of the TV Westerns he loved so well. His vibrant personality, humility and generosity will be greatly missed. The family extends a heartfelt “Thank You” to all who tried to lessen the pain and reach out during the last steps of John’s journey.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Mother of Divine Providence, 333 Allendale Road King of Prussia, PA 19406 on September 6th . Viewing begins at 9 am with mass at 10:30 am.
