John was born in 1936 in Berwyn, PA and lived his life there. John served in the US Coast Guard on active duty from 1957 to 1961 before returning to his family home on Cassatt Avenue. He proudly wore his hat that read, ‘Vietnam Vet.’
Though out his life, John devoted himself to the community by becoming a police officer, a firefighter, and an ambulance driver. Considered one of the best mechanics in the area, John worked for many years at Shudy’s Garage on Lancaster Avenue.
When John retired he spent more time on the open road on his motorcycle. As a former cook, baking was one of John’s hobbies after retirement, and he happily delivered many batches of cookies and bread to his friends on holidays.
He is survived by Jody Dimaio: widow of brother Albert Ahn, daughters of Albert Ahn: Joann M. Waters, Kathleen L Ahn, Paula E. Thomas, Lisa M. Zomchick, Sam Hallman- widower of Jennifer Ahn, and daughters of Frank (Fritz) Ahn: Mary Donnelly, Anna Sensenig, and Paul (Buzz) Ahn.
The funeral service will be held at Alleva’s Funeral Home on Lancaster Avenue in Paoli, PA. on Friday, March 26, at 10:00 a.m. for family and friends, 11:00 a.m. for prayers. The internment will be private.
