Frances Rose Melchiorre

Frances was the wife of the late Peter D. Melchiorre, Jr., with whom she shared 67 years of marriage. Frances was an active member of the St. Norbert Church, Saint Monica’s Bowling league and Surrey for Seniors. Her Catholic faith was very important to her, and she rarely missed 6:30 am daily Mass. At age 7, Frances left her birthplace, Torricella Peligna, Italy and arrived by vessel to the United States with her late mother, Concetta and late sisters, Alice, and Josephine. There, the family was reunited with Frances’ father, Domenico, who traveled to the United States before Frances was born to make a life for them and established their home in Devon.

She was also predeceased by her brother, Vincent (“Jimmy”) and a late sister, Rose, who died at a young age in Italy. Frances attended the St. Katharine of Sienna School in Wayne and Tredyffrin-Easttown High school. In her youth, she worked in a paper mill for many years while Pete was building their business. Frances (aka “Nana”) enjoyed her home in Paoli that she and Pete built in 1970. She loved being in her kitchen and cooking for her family and friends, especially during summers while all enjoyed her pool. She was an avid gardener with a green thumb who enjoyed working outside in her vegetable and flower gardens. She loved her grandchildren and was a tireless babysitter.

Frances is survived by her three children; Peter D, III (Dale), Patricia and David (Lee); her ten grandchildren, Cheryl (Ted), Peter IV (Katie), Sarah, William, Amanda (Nathan), Kelsey (Joel), Nate, Jack, Teddy, and Paige; and nine great-grandchildren.

A private family viewing and Catholic Mass will be held at St. Norbert Church, 50 Leopard Road, Paoli, PA 19301, and a private Interment will follow at Philadelphia Memorial Park, 124 Phoenixville Pike, Frazer, PA 19355.
