Florence Donovan, of Berwyn PA passed away on Tuesday October 31, 2017. Florence was born July 10 1920 to Michael and Mary O’Halloran. She was the 7th of 9 children. She was raised in the depression-era, coal-mining city of Scranton PA. She married Frank T. Donovan in 1942 and moved to Valdosta GA for his military service. When the war was over, they made their home in York PA, and then Hellam PA. In 1962, they settled in Berwyn and finished raising their 4 children. Florence was very skilled at making crafts that will continue to be family heirlooms long after she is gone. She was a member of Saint Monica’s Church, where she managed the annual Christmas Bazaar Crafts for several years. Florence was an avid shopper, especially of thrift shops. She took immense pleasure in shopping for her family. Her family was her greatest achievement. Her Christmas Eve family celebrations were not to be missed. She will be remembered for her gracious treatment of everyone, and her wise and encouraging words in troubling times. She is survived by her children: Tom Donovan (Maureen), Kevin Donovan (Pat), Mary Kate Spratt (Dan) and Tricia Nielsen (Eric); 10 Grandchildren: Todd, Mark, Jeff, Fran and Dave Donovan, Kerri, Alyssa and Luke Spratt, John and Tess Nielsen; 7 Great Grandchildren: Markayla, Jack, Leah, Tori, Thomas, Jacob and Grant Donovan; and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. Relatives and friends may call on Sat. Nov 4 2017 from 9:15 - 10:15AM at St. Monica Church: 635 First Ave, Berwyn PA 19312. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM. Interment to follow at St. Monica Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Florence's honor to: St. Monica Church. Arrangements are with Alleva Funeral Home, Inc.
