Edward Leo Ebert

Edward Leo Ebert, age 86, passed away on 12/26/2022. He was a long-time resident of Berwyn, PA. Ed was born in Hammond, IN, to John and Lillian Ebert. He started school at St. Ursuline In Youngstown, OH. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Rutherford, NJ and continued his education, graduating from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Ed went on to establish a career at Scott Paper Co., working his way up to VP of Sales before his retirement after more than 30 years.

“Ed Ebert, Scott Paper” was how he often introduced himself, but he definitely considered his family, faith, and friends his crowning achievements. Anyone lucky enough to know the best person you’ll ever meet, knew that he was always there or present – whether it was in a conversation or at a party!

Dad loved to play golf. He made his first hole in one this past April on the golf course at his second residence in Naples, Florida. He was also a proud, long-time member of Pine Valley Golf Club in Pine Valley, NJ, one of his favorite, home-away from-homes!

Dad was a consummate joke- and story- teller. His family would beg him to tell jokes repeatedly, and sometimes roll our eyes when we heard him tell some stories again and again!

He had pictures of his grandchildren, children, and wife prominently displayed on the dresser next to his bed because “he wanted to see his family when he got out of bed and put his feet on the ground each morning.”

He had a strong faith that came from his parents. Dad never missed weekly church, or he knew he would catch hell from his mother (even after her passing!) If anyone turned to him for advice, he would say “pray and then leave it up to our Dear Lord.” We know that Dad is with his heavenly father who welcomed him and embraced him once he got Home.

Ed is survived by his wife of 63 years Alletta Devos Ebert of Oradell, NJ; his children Dave (Eva), Chris (Barkley), Susie (Brian), and his “favorite son” Jabari Boddie; his grandchildren Charlie, Mac, Lily, Jack, Chet, and Katie.

A private viewing with immediate family is scheduled, with a Celebration of Life to follow this summer (TBD).
