She was the beloved wife of the late Samuel McCleary and loving mother of Dottie (married to Jim) Graham and Nancy (married to Frank) Brincheiro and proud grandmother to Nolan, Will, Kate, Alex, and Anna.
She was also the loving caretaker of many dogs in her lifetime, some for just a short time until she could reunite a lost dog to its owner, some adopted in their senior years so they could be spoiled and live the rest of their days with joy.
Dorothy was a graduate of Little Flower High School of Philadelphia and later went on to earn a degree from Villanova University. She worked for many years at Pennsylvania Railroad where she met her husband Sam. She and Sam lived in Paoli where they raised their daughters and instilled in them a love for Ocean City, NJ.
As a seamstress, quilter, and master of all kinds of needlework, she was best known for her hand-knit personalized Christmas stockings lovingly made for family and friends.
She loved books, puzzles, the Phillies, Villanova basketball, collectables, and shopping, but none of these passions compared to her love for her grandchildren and supporting their interests.
She would never miss an opportunity to watch a grandchild’s musical performance, dance recital, or sporting event, and took extra time to send cards, Tastycakes or a newspaper clipping to let you know you were on her mind. Her pride in their accomplishments would be shared with anyone who would listen.
She will be remembered for her quick wit and supportive and generous nature, always having time to listen and care for those she loved.
