Chuck’s amazing life started in Norristown, PA , where he grew up with an appreciation for his neighbors and family. He was a jokester and had a great sense of humor which carried through his entire life. He served 3 years in the Army National Guard (Company C, 111th Infantry).
Chuck began his life-long work career at Asbestos Insulating Co. and worked with his father and others while crafting his skills at estimating and bidding on industrial and commercial roofing. While he moved on through several roofing companies in his career, he was still working at age 75 at Wilkinson's Roofing when he retired.
Chuck’s love of family began as a young adult, and through the many decades as a father/husband/grandfather/great grandfather, he was the glue that supported an extended family. His love of family is best exemplified by the hundreds of family functions and events he was responsible for while caring for children and grandparents living with him throughout his life.
He loved classic cars, carpentry, breeding Dalmatians, dog shows, and exciting adventures by car, plane, or cruise ship. He was proud to have seen many places throughout the world. From Alaska and Hawaii, to Florida and New England, and Mexico to his all-time favorite destination, Greece. Chuck loved his travels and adventures.
Chuck’s personality was larger than life itself. He exuded a confidence in himself and always believed in his abilities as a people person. He could be the life of the party, while also sharing compassion towards anyone in need. A final example of his strong personality was that his passing was on his own terms and direction, again, demonstrating a strength and love of life and family that will be remembered and rejoiced by all who knew him.
Chuck was the husband of the late Mona B. (Hero) Snyder and first wife Joan C. (Moser) Snyder. Preceded by his parents Charles C. Snyder Jr. and Florence M. Allebach. Surviving are his 5 children Cheryl Snyder Carroll, Vickie Snyder Procacci (John), Michael Handwerk (Janice), Ray Handwerk (Diane) and Rhonda Newton (Mark), 12 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, and his sister Dorothy Salter and her family.
